Child Care Commitment for Faculty
The University of Texas has three campus child care centers with 480 spaces that serve children between six weeks to five years of age. A limited number of spaces are reserved for faculty recruitment and retention and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Process
Process for Requesting Child Care due to Recruitment or Retention
To help aid in the recruitment or retention of faculty members for whom child care is a critical issue, Department Chairs can request a slot at the Child Development Center on behalf of the faculty member. Department Chairs must submit either the Recruitment Application Form on behalf of new faculty or the Retention Application Form on the behalf of current faculty no later than May 1st for spaces being requested for the next academic year. Forms should be submitted directly to CNS Faculty Affairs.
Child care spaces fill up very quickly, so once a department is aware of a potential need, requests should be submitted immediately. If no spaces are available for the requested semester, the faculty member's child will either be placed on a waitlist or given a slot in the next available semester.
