The College of Natural Sciences aims to catalyze, support, and showcase the innovative, evidence-based undergraduate science education that is a focal point in our mission.
The Texas Institute for Discovery Education in Science (TIDES) existed from 2014-2022, to shepherd these efforts. These efforts are now fully integrated into other core offices within the College of Natural Sciences:
- Efforts to support undergraduate experiential learning, such as the Undergraduate Research Forum and "Science Sprints," which are open to all students, remain central in the College of Natural Sciences. One-stop consulting for students seeking hands-on experiences beyond the classroom continues and is now available through the Office of Diversity and Student Programs. Information about many of these resources—including working with peer ambassadors—can be found on this website.
- Support for faculty and student instructors seeking professional development and excellence in their teaching is now provided via the college's Office of STEM Education Excellence. Resources can continue to be found on this website.
- Dedicated experiential learning courses and offerings such as The Freshman Research Initiative and Inventors Program, along with our various K-12 offerings like the High School Research Initiative, continue to serve thousands of UT Austin undergraduates and future college-goers annually.
- Data and analytical insights and support for evaluation efforts throughout the college are robust and are now housed in the Office of Institutional Research and Analytics, based in the college's Strategy and Equity Initiatives. Resources related to this can be found on this website.
