The College of Natural Sciences Undergraduate Scholarship Committee chooses recipients of these scholarships (except where noted), which are available to current undergraduates. There is one common online application for these scholarships. By submitting the CNS Common Scholarship Application, you will be considered for all awards for which you are eligible.
Dr. H. Franklyn Alexander Endowed Scholarship
Recipients must be full-time undergraduate students of high academic achievement in the College of Natural Sciences who are United States citizens or permanent residents. Students who have graduated from a Texas high school are strongly encouraged to apply. Students from a non-metropolitan area, for example one with a population of less than 150,000 people, are also encouraged to apply.
Carl Stone Benedict Scholarship
Recipients must be worthy students in need of financial assistance. Preference is given to sophomores.
Blocker-Cramer Endowed Scholarship
Recipients must be full-time students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents who have financial need, and should be third- or fourth-year undergraduates majoring in science or pursuing a pre-medical curriculum. Students should have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA or equivalent during their previous two years, and should be involved in leadership roles at UT.
Robert E. Boyer Endowed Presidential Scholarship for Natural Sciences
Recipients must be full-time students enrolled in the College of Natural Sciences with a minimum 3.75 GPA and have completed 45 credit hours in residence at UT.
Anna Lee and Alexander Chang Endowed Scholarship
Recipients must be undergraduates in the College of Natural Sciences' Dean's Scholars Honors Program.
Drs. Miles and Audra Day Scholarship
Recipients must be College of Natural Sciences undergraduates. Preference is given to students from Lubbock County with demonstrated financial need.
Dean's Scholar Susan Clark Leadership Award
Recipients must be a member of the Dean's Scholars Honors Program and have demonstrated excellence in scholarship and leadership.
Dow Chemical Company-University of Texas Alumni Endowed Scholarship
Recipients must be a child or grandchild of a current or retired Dow Chemical Company employee. Both incoming freshman and continuing students are encouraged to apply. Award is merit based and will be given to the most academically qualified full-time students based on high school or college grades. Recipients must be enrolled full-time.
Georgia Felter and Carey Legett, Jr. Dean's Endowed Scholarship
Recipients must be a current full-time major in the College of Natural Sciences. Students must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Financial need will be taken into consideration.
Stephanie A. Flores Endowed Scholarship in Natural Sciences
Recipients must be undergraduate students in their second year of study who have maintained a minimum 3.25 GPA. Preference is given to students who demonstrate leadership and who have an interest in the sport of rugby.
Dean & Charlene Henney Endowed Scholarship in Natural Sciences
Recipients must be an undergraduate student in the College of Natural Sciences. Preference shall be given to students with financial need. Additional preference shall be given to students from rural or agrarian backgrounds who matriculated from a Texas high school.
Hou-Li Scholarship in Natural Sciences
Recipients must be junior and/or senior undergraduates in the College of Natural Sciences who are majoring in Physics and plan to pursue a graduate degree in Natural Sciences. Students shall have a minimum 3.5. GPA in the Natural Sciences. Preference is given to students who have financial need and/or students who have done undergraduate research.
John Juvenal Endowed Scholarship
Recipients must be a junior or senior level undergraduate student who is a Texas resident. First preference is given to students involved in the intercollegiate or intramural golf programs. Further preference is given to students involved in an agriculture related field of study.
Betty Wilson and James Everett Key Endowed Presidential Scholarship
Recipients must be a junior or senior enrolled full-time in the College of Natural Sciences with a minimum 3.75 GPA and have completed 45 credit hours in residence at UT.
Bonnie and H. Elton Lacey Endowed Scholarship
Recipients must be current undergraduate students majoring in a degree from the College of Natural Sciences and who have lived in or matriculated from the rural areas of either Texas or Mississippi. Students who are currently employed are strongly encouraged to apply.
David B. Matlock Endowed Scholarship
Recipients should be students in the College of Natural Sciences with first preference given to students who are members of the Black Student Alliance (BSA) or a successor organization that exists for similar purposes and objectives as the BSA, so long as the BSA or its successor is a registered student organization open to all students. Financial need shall be a consideration when selecting between equally meritorious candidates for awards. Second preference is for students who are participants in the University Leadership Network Program or a successor program that promotes leadership skills and academic success for students who have significant financial need.
Thomas and Elizabeth Merner Scholarship in Natural Sciences
Recipients should be majoring in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or other sciences, and can be of any classification. Students must be enrolled full-time, in financial need and show strong academic performance.
National Instruments Endowed Scholarship for Excellence
Recipients must be a sophomore or above and must be majoring in Computer Sciences, Mathematics or Physics with a minimum 3.5 GPA and enrolled full-time. Students who are involved in research that includes a substantial level of computing or laboratory measurement skills are encouraged to apply.
Natural Sciences Council Endowed Service Scholarship
Recipients must be a current major in the College of Natural Sciences and must be in good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Student should display qualities of service and commitment, to the benefit of the community, above and beyond the average student. Students demonstrating service to the College of Natural Sciences are strongly encouraged to apply. *Recipients are chosen by a committee that will include students.
Natural Sciences 21st Century Endowed Presidential Scholarship
Recipients must be a junior or senior enrolled full-time in the College of Natural Sciences with a minimum 3.75 GPA and have completed 45 credit hours in residence at UT.
Rajaram Family Endowed Presidential Scholarship in the College of Natural Sciences
Recipients must be a junior or senior enrolled full-time in the College of Natural Sciences with a minimum 3.75 GPA and have completed 45 credit hours in residence at UT, and who have financial need.
Jack Roloson Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Natural Sciences
Recipients must be full-time students enrolled in the College of Natural Sciences with a minimum 3.75 GPA and have completed 45 credit hours in residence at UT. Preference is given to students who are part of the College of Natural Sciences Dean's Scholars, and who are 1) graduates of Martin High School in Arlington, TX, 2) graduates of a public high school in Arlington, TX, 3) simply a member of the Dean's Scholars.
Dan K. Seilheimer, M.D. Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship
Recipients must be incoming freshmen or any classification of undergraduate students with academic majors in chemistry, physics, mathematics or astronomy. Students must be enrolled full-time with a 3.0 GPA or above in their major. Recipients must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Financial need may be taken into consideration.
Elizabeth Sherrell Endowed Scholarship
Recipients must be a full-time sophomore or above majoring in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry/Biochemistry with at least a 3.0 GPA in their major. Students who are Texas residents and students who work 10 or more hours per week are strongly encouraged to apply.
Alyx Catherine Stevens Scholarship
Recipients must be majoring in areas generally recognized as STEM fields (science, technology, engineering or math) and have at least a 3.25 GPA. Preference shall be given to students participating in a non-STEM related student organization officially registered with the University.
Jennie and Carl Sundberg Scholarship
Recipients must be needy and worthy students who are Texas residents.
Kevin E. Underhill Memorial Endowed Presidential Scholarship
Recipients must be a junior or senior enrolled full-time in the College of Natural Sciences with a minimum 3.75 GPA and have completed 45 credit hours in residence at UT.
James W. Vick Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Natural Sciences
Recipients must be a junior or senior enrolled full-time in the College of Natural Sciences with a minimum 3.75 GPA and have completed 45 credit hours in residence at UT.
Brian Murray Welch Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Recipients must be current full-time majors in the College of Natural Sciences with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students who are employees of, or whose parents or grandparents are employees of ONDEO Nalco are strongly encouraged to apply. Students who are graduates from the Childress Independent School District in Childress, TX, or graduates of Permian High School in Odessa, TX are also encouraged to apply.
