Students of Color
As a student of color, attending a predominantly white institution (PWI) comes with particular challenges that are directly related to issues of systematic racism which can hinder one’s ability to prosper in and outside of the university. Longhorns in the College of Natural Sciences are particularly tasked with navigating STEM spaces that have historically excluded racial and ethnic minorities. CNS Career Services seeks to provide tools and resources that acknowledge the unique challenges students of color may face in the job search, recruitment and selection process. Our goal is for you to build a professional portfolio that bolsters not only your formal education and qualifications but also your lived experiences. Review the guide below which includes a compilation of resources and advice that may help you in the job search and application process. While this is not an exhaustive list, we encourage you to make an appointment with one of our career coaches as well so we can further explore your individual goals and interests.
