Karen in Career Services

Dear CNS Students,

What can I do with my science degree? Should I go directly to graduate school or get some work experience first? What do I say at a career fair? Is anyone even hiring in the pandemic? These are questions we hear often in Career Services, and we are happy to help you answer them! Did you know that 95% of CNS students strongly agree that their Career Services appointment made them feel more knowledgeable about their career options and more confident in the next steps they need to take?

You can make an appointment with a CNS career coach via Handshake to discuss career options, resumes, cover letters, interviewing, LinkedIn, how to find internships, and questions about graduate school. If you're curious to know what your fellow CNS students have done after graduation, you can see what jobs they got and which graduate schools they attended here.

On February 16th, we will be hosting the Technology and Science Career Fair virtually on the Handshake platform. Beyond the technology jobs you might think about, there are also some interesting companies looking to hire students with life sciences training. Be sure to check out the list of who is coming and attend a workshop to learn how to prepare.

We have additional workshops coming up this spring, including How To Prepare for Graduate School and our ever-popular How To Work In Healthcare Without Being a Doctor. Whatever your career goals, it is never too early or too late to start planning your next steps after graduation!

Best,

Karen Scully-Clemmons, Career Services Assistant Director
