Your Campus, Your Home

Your Campus, Your Home

Your years at this University are an unusual time in your life. Whether you live on campus or off, everything happens in roughly the same place. This is where you learn, work, explore, get involved and do research. It's also where you meet friends, talk, relax, eat and maybe even nap (I saw you on the stairs in the SAC and curled up next to the white board on the fifth floor of PCL).

In other words, this is your home.

But it is a really big home that tens of thousands of people share with you. This is simultaneously a daunting realization and an amazing opportunity. It would be difficult to fit everyone in at the dinner table, but imagine the conversation! While you're at UT, you have a unique chance to meet and listen to new people, to hear points of view and experiences of the world that are very different from your own, and to make connections you never expected.

Those connections to other students are a big part of what will make your time at UT memorable. It's one of the most important aspects of your time in college. So I encourage you to take advantage of the size of our College and University. Reach out, make the connections, and form the community that make this campus more of a home.
