UT Hosts Conference on Neural Tube Defects

About: This week Austin hosts the 7th International Conference on Neural Tube Defects. Held at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center from November 6-9, the conference brings together scientists and clinicians who are researching the causes, prevention, and treatment of neural tube defects (NTDs).

The scientists in attendance represent the many fields currently involved in locating the causes of NTDs: epidemiology, molecular and developmental biology, embryology, genetics, neurosurgery, and pediatrics and will be presenting research on topics like gene-nutrient interactions, folate supplementation and fortification, mouse models of NTDs.

The conference is not limited to research topics; physicians will also present their research on NTD syndromology and treatment paradigms to advance the treatment of patients with NTDs.
