Mole Day and more

Mole Day and more

Dear Students,

Is there a better way to start a week than Mole Day? It is the invented holiday that celebrates the concept of a "mole" and Amedeo Avogadro whose gas law contributed greatly to the fundamental idea of the existence of molecules. I'm not sure what you're supposed to do for Mole Day except post random GIFs of dancing moles holding up test tubes and beakers. Nonetheless, it is a great start to a busy week.

Last week, we had an amazing Natural Sciences Week thanks to the Natural Sciences Council. But this week, as always, is again a busy week on campus. Perhaps you're not sure what is happening and have been overwhelmed by UT Event emails to the point that you have unsubscribed. Never fear, each week we send you a list of things happening in CNS (and across campus) right at the bottom of your weekly email. So be sure to explore, because you never know what you might find. For example, this week we have a UT Biology alum, Dr. Spencer Wells, speaking at Startup Science Live! This is a new biannual speaker series featuring science entrepreneurs.

So get out this week and celebrate science.

Best,
Dr. Vanden Bout
