In light of Commencement, we step back to celebrate the Class of 2017. We've updated this post, post-commencement, to share highlights from all three College of Natural Sciences ceremonies.
Whether you attended graduation or want to get a sense for the festivities that you missed, we've got you covered with the resources below.
1. Experience highlights from the ceremonies. CNS had three indoor commencement ceremonies at the Erwin Center, each with different speakers. (Get the lowdown on parking, ADA accessibility, and when to be where here.)
Speaking at the 8 a.m. and noon ceremonies was alum and social entrepreneur Thane Kreiner. At 3:30, alum Jennifer Kotler Clarke, a research lead with Sesame Workshop, addressed graduates and their families. And several graduating seniors and Dean's Honored Graduates spoke at commencement ceremonies as well:
- Michael Miyagi at the 8 a.m. ceremony
- Kayla Ann Leonard at the Noon ceremony
- Hayley Marek at the 3:30 ceremony

3. Revisit the fun online. Of course, you and your peers took lots of photos as well. See what got tagged with #UTGrad17 on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to see photos and posts leading up to the event and shared throughout the weekend: graduation selfies, family shots at iconic College spots, and all those spots Hook Em recommended, like the Gearing Courtyard, the BOT Greenhouse, and the Gates-Dell Complex.
4. Meet some of our amazing students. The Class of 2017 is full of world-changing College of Natural Sciences students. Check out the achievements of our Dean's Honored Graduates (click on the photos to read each student's profile) and other outstanding students recognized for leaving their mark on our news blog.
5. Hear some parting thoughts and keep in touch. Some graduating UT students reflected on their time at the University and what they learned that every freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, and member of Longhorn nation ought to know in "Dear Longhorns," a video letter from the Class of 2017. From the College, Michael Miyagi, a biology and math honors graduate, and Kevin Helgren, who studied neuroscience and is a former student body president, are among those who make an appearance.
