Distinguish Yourself

Distinguish Yourself

Dear Students,

This is your call for nominations.

Last semester I wrote to you about four new distinctions the College is offering that highlight things we value a great deal in the College of Natural Sciences: Entrepreneurship, Research, Service & Leadership, and Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion. Well, now is the time to nominate those amongst you who are deserving. We are excited to offer self and peer nominations in this process, so spread the word.

On the Distinctions webpage you'll find more information about what it can look like to be distinguished in each area (though these lists are certainly not comprehensive). There is a link for nominations at the bottom of the page.

If selected, not only will you be able to bask in the glory of all your accomplishments that led up to this point, but you will also earn a pin to wear on your graduation regalia, your name in the graduation program as a distinguished graduate in your area, and an invitation to a celebration hosted by Dean Goldbart the night before commencement.

Best,
Dr. Vanden Bout

Joke: Infinitely many mathematicians walk into a bar. The first says, "I'll have a beer." The second says, "I'll have half a beer." The third says, "I'll have a quarter of a beer." Before anyone else can speak, the bartender fills up exactly two glasses of beer and serves them. "Come on, now," he says to the group, "You guys have got to learn your limits."
