Preparing for Workday

This message was sent from Dean Goldbart to college faculty and staff ahead of the transition in some business services systems.

As you have heard by now, the launch of Workday begins Nov. 9, with some changes occurring as soon as Oct. 23, after which HR processes won't be available for a while.

For those of you aiding in this transition, I know it has been a lot of work, and thank you for all you are doing to ensure our college is prepared. Your dedication is deeply appreciated.

For everyone else, please show understanding and patience with fellow UT employees working in these systems. We and leaders in the university are aware of and have planned for potential hurdles and are prepared to support and assist you as changes occur in human resources, payroll and academic personnel services.

Here are five things you can do at this time to ensure that you are ready:

1. Take advantage of Workday training opportunities to help you adjust to what's new.

2. Submit or approve all employee timesheets by Oct. 31. Between Oct. 31 and Nov. 9, there will be no timesheet system available. During this time, please keep track of your time and record when Workday is in operation after Nov. 9.

3. Faculty members: be prepared to use Workday to submit sick leave reporting.

4. If you're a manager, I recommend that you add a weekly reminder to your calendar to approve timesheets for any hourly employees every week beginning Nov. 9, so they will be paid on time.

5. To reiterate, many HR processes will be unavailable between Oct. 23 and Nov. 9. Click here for more details.
