Dear Students,
I have had a chance to go to the Forty Acres a few times since things shut down in March. A lot is different: With so few people around, turtles from the turtle pond have wandered all the way to the entry of W.C. Hogg. But other things are still the same: Domino the cat continues to soak up sun outside the UT Tower, and that ornery opossum still comes and eats his food.
When we start a new academic year, you will notice things that are different and things that are the same, too. This fall will be like no other with many new safety measures in place, hybrid courses underway, and some of you staying home to learn 100% remotely. But our commitment is that the excellent education you get will be the same. The community that cares for you and serves as a reminder you belong will remain. The faculty and staff who are here to support you and your journey will be every bit as focused on you as ever.
Now would be a good time to start to make a plan. A good first step is to check on your course schedule by logging in to UT Direct to review your schedule now that more is known about the instructional mode for each class you registered for (i.e., fully online, hybrid or in-person). Registration is open through July 22. You can find more help: both from your advisor and on the Registering for Classes page on the Texas One Stop website.
