3 Tips for Finals Readiness

3 Tips for Finals Readiness

Dear Students,

Well, we've just about made it through another semester! But I know that for many, it hardly feels that way because finals are about to begin, and there's more work ahead. As you get ready for finals, here are my top three bits of advice:

  1. Sleep: All-nighters often do more harm than good because your brain needs sleep to store information and, well, function. Make time for it!
  2. Take good care of yourself: A little bit of anxiety can help motivate us, but too much stress is no good. Make time for self-care activities that keep you feeling balanced.
  3. Believe in yourself: You are here in CNS because you can take on big challenges and succeed. If you learn one thing here, I hope it's that.

After finals, I have one more assignment for you: Take some time over winter break to think about what worked for you and what didn't this semester, and about ways you can improve in the areas that matter to you. Whether this semester feels like a huge success or something less than that, remember that we are playing the long game. Your grades in one course or one semester are not the outcomes that define you. Both your successes and your disappointments are opportunities to learn and refine the skills, habits and approaches that will set you up for long-term success beyond the Forty Acres.Good luck on exams, have a great break and I look forward to seeing you in 2023!

Best,

Dr. Drew
