Invisible in the food we eat, the people we kiss and inside our own bodies, viruses flourish—with the power to shape not only our health, but our social, political and economic systems. In his new book, VIROLOGY, Joseph Osmundson brings readers under the microscope to understand the structure and mechanics of viruses and to examine how viruses like HIV and SARS-CoV-2 have redefined daily life.
Osmundson is a scientist and writer. He’s a Clinical Assistant Professor of Biology at NYU, and he received his Ph.D. from The Rockefeller University in molecular biophysics. His research has appeared in leading biological journals, including Cell and PNAS. He is also the co-host of a literary podcast, Food 4 Thot, and an essayist whose writing has appeared in The Village Voice, The Los Angeles Review of Books, Gawker, The Kenyon Review, The Rumpus and elsewhere.Moderator and Panelists
