Join the Department of Astronomy for live views of several deep-sky targets from the dark skies at McDonald Observatory, starting at 10pm Central time. Your host Stephen Hummel will show you views from a camera attached to a research-grade 16" telescope at the Frank N. Bash Visitors Center. Mid-summer skies offer a fabulous variety of objects to see!
The targets, weather permitting, will be:
1. M4, a loosely concentrated globular cluster
2. M80, a highly compact globular cluster
3. M17, or the "Swan Nebula"
4. NGC 6543, or the "Cat's Eye Nebula"
5. NGC 4490, or the "Cocoon Galaxy"
Can't make the live stream? This event will be recorded and remain on the McDonald Observatory channel.
Hope for clear skies!
